Event Planning Assistant Internship

Since 1985, Winslow & Associates (W&A) has developed a special expertise in providing event planning and consultation services for various charitable organizations and corporate events, including Macy's Passport, Glide Holiday Festival, Academy of Friends Annual Gala, California International Antiquarian Book Fair, San Francisco International Film Festival, Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation's Celebrity Pool Toss, and many others.

You will have start-to-finish exposure in the preparation and production of significant public events, which involve planning, fundraising, contacting media, staff recruitment, logistics, and coordination of caterers and vendors. You will also gain on-site experience as a member of the W&A team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support with database entry, mass mailings, answering phones, and conducting follow-up calls.
  • Participate in all facets of event production: food, beverage, décor, entertainment, collateral materials and sponsorship.
  • Research and develop vendor relationships to help meet our client's needs.
  • Maintain and update event filing systems.
  • Provide on-site assistance to project managers.

Qualifications

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills - preferably Mac proficient with experience in FileMaker Pro, MS Word and Excel.
  • Effective time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member. Great attention to detail and multi-task oriented.

Related Majors

Marketing, Hospitality Management,Communications,and Business Administration. Any major will be considered if candidate has had leadership experience in event planning.

Compensation

The first 100 completed hours of work is a trial period, in which you will receive a stipend of $500.00. Upon completing this trial period, you will receive an hourly rate to be determined upon experience and performance.

Schedule

Internships may be used for academic credit and commitment is negotiable depending on the intern's availability to work. Minimum of 16-20 hours per week.
